SKYC is a not-for-profit LLC, registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO), which with its sister club, the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center (NASC), makes up the St Kitts & Nevis Sailing Association (SKNSA), being the official sailing representative for St Kitts & Nevis, recognized by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).

The SKNSA is a member of World Sailing and is recognized as the federal body for sailing by the St Kitts & Nevis Olympic Committee.
